Trekkineer Rules

We ask that all teams please read the rules of this event carefully; they are designed to protect you, and your team. In the spirit of Adventure Racing we also impose strict environmental stipulations on all teams who register for this event. We should treat the environment with respect so that our children's children may enjoy the same outdoors we do. Remember, leave only footprints.

General Rules and Regulations:

1.       All disputes, environmental/ecological breeches, race course discrepancies, accusations of race course misconduct including tampering with race course markings, etc. brought to the attention of the race organization staff will be dealt with in accordance with the rules herein set forth. Teams which do not comply with general rules and regulations of the event face disqualification from the Adventure NORTH Trekkineer and future events.

2.       There is one official time clock. The clock starts when teams start and stops when last team crosses finish line. The clock does not stop during the race for any reason. Teams not making cutoff times will not be allowed to continue racing unless alternate course is provided by race director.

3.       Remember environmental/ecological preservation will be STRICTLY enforced - DO NOT leave trash on course or cause any damage to the environment.

4.       Participants must be 18 years of age on or before date of event.

5.       All racers must read and sign wavers prior to being allowed to compete.

6.       Each team will need to have one support person and a vehicle that is capable of transporting the team's bikes and transition equipment.

7.       Entire race will require orienteering using a map and compass with UTM coordinates.

Team Rules:

1.       A team must complete the event as a co-ed team of four to be ranked. If one team member withdraws at any time during the event, the remaining three team members may continue unranked. If more than one team member withdraws, the entire team will be removed from the racecourse.  Remaining members of the team will not be allowed to continue.

2.       When on the racecourse teams must remain within site and sound of each other at all times. Teams who enter a checkpoint or transition area separated will be time penalized or disqualified.

3.       Race jersey provided by Adventure NORTH must be worn in a visible manner at all times during the event.

4.       Mandatory gear will be checked during registration. Mandatory team gear may be spot-checked at any time during the event.

Cutoff Times:

Cutoff times will be determined prior to race day.  Any cutoff points will be established to allow the safe management of teams throughout the course.  Every attempt will be made to determine appropriate locations of cutoffs that will allow teams to continue on the course unranked for their enjoyment.  This will be done through the elimination of sections of the course that does not allow unranked teams to cross the finish line prior to the winning teams.

Wildlife Stipulations:

bulletBE ALERT - A number of animals including bears, and (rare) rattle snakes may be encountered, but if your paths cross-THEY have right of way-Leave them alone and they will do the same. You may encounter some four-legged friends about - such as: coyotes, wolves, deer, lynx, mountain lion, etc.-they are much more afraid of you, than you are of them but, use extreme caution in the outside chance you cross paths - and again THEY have the right of way. Any team/team member intentionally harming ANY type of wildlife - will face immediate disqualification.
bulletNO FIREARMS OR WEAPONS ALLOWED.
bulletIf a team member incurs a wildlife injury, use your mandatory cell phone and follow emergency procedures until help arrives.

Emergency wildlife guidelines addressed again at pre-race briefing meeting.
